This morning on Butterfly Meadow, I spotted a weird looking very molted Tanager species perched on the Buttefly Mead fence before the bird flew up into the east Pin oak then locust nearby before it took off . Rob Bate was there behind me and spotted briefly the bird down the path later. I noted a red spot on the bird's wing tertiaries. Just reddish and weird looking..that I presumed was a Summer.

From appearance and profile it leans towards Scarlet but keep a heads up if you are up there on Lookout .

GREAT CRESTED FLYCATCHER ( past breeder here) , HOUSE WREN, INDIGO BUNTING ( fem) were some other birds we spotted at Butterfly.

Hi All

At 10:45am today I was in the Lullwater Cove (opposite the Rustic Arbor) with my photographer friend Francois Portmann (http://fotoportmann.com/birds/). Francois spotted a cuckoo which on closer inspection turned into a Black-billed. We watched the bird as it moved around the cove, sometimes coming quite low down. As we were about to leave Francois spotted a second cuckoo flying in, though I could not relocate it and identify it.

Not bad for a 15 minute walk in the park.
