From Rob Jett
Peter,
There wasn't anything unusual to report in Prospect Park this afternoon. While
speaking with a new birder named Ben near the Binnen Water a nice sized flock of
WWCRs flew into a tree above the water. They cautiously made their way down to
the edge of the stream to drink & bathe. Nearby a pair of Winter Wrens thought
it was Spring and sang from the edge of the water. December Winter finches and a
Spring serenade made for a very strange juxtaposition.
Good birding,
Rob

BBGarden this morning. Search for crossbills was in vain. But I did see a brown thrasher, 2 red-tailed hawks circling overhead, and the same unusually large number of cardinals and titmice I've been seeing for at least the last month in Green-Wood. Also, one robin, a few chickadees, a few white-throated sparrows, and two mockingbirds.
