Prospect
This morning, while doing a work assignment in the area, I did see one RUSTY BLACKBIRD fly to a tree perch. Also present , at eye level , in a Osage Orange along the fence, a YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER worked the trunk and moments later a BROWN CREEPER visited the same tree. These sightings were at Binnen Creek/3 Arches.
Note early spring migrants as seen in Keir's report, besides our Creeper, WINTER WREN, KINGLET,NUTHATCH...
I received a report from Linda Ewing that the RED-NECKED GREBE was still present on the lake, prolonging this species already historic stay in Prospect.
But of interest from Linda yesterday afternoon, she might have flushed a Wilson's Snipe from one of the phragmite marshes along the Lake west shore. The fly out occurred very quickly. So, be on lookout for this species that likes to settle in marshy wet areas.(hence their camouflage)
Over in Greenwood Cemetery, Orrin reports the still ongoing REDHEAD pair at Valley Water .
that's for now....later maybe more news.
