With the permission of the list administrator, I'd like to alert you all to two upcoming exhibits by my friend and fellow naturalist George Boorujy. He's an extraordinary animal artist, with a magnificent eye for detail. His birds, at generally larger-than-life scale, should be experienced on the canvas, but you can get a preview of some of his previous work on his website, http://georgeboorujy.com. Besides being a very fine illustrator, his work presents challenging questions about issues of representation and anthropomorphism.
"Taxonomy" opens tomorrow and runs through November 13, at the Arsenal Gallery, Central Park.http://new.nycparks.org/parks/central-park/events/2014/10/30/exhibition-george-boorujy-taxonomy He'll be giving a talk there 10/13 at 6pm.
"Passenger" will open Nov. 6th at P.P.O.W. Gallery in Chelsea.http://www.ppowgallery.com/exhibition/3116/work
Thank you for you attention.
