Hi Peter,
Another good walk. This time about 22 people but nobody from da Bronx...unfortunately.
We had some good groups of warblers and once again 15 species of warblers, although not all seen by all attendees...see sad story below...
Highlights were Tennessee, Blackburnian, fast Phila Vireo, Winter Wren in two spots, Gray-cheeked/Bicknell's thrush in the lullwater (small, very reddish, early...maybe Bicknell's??), Prairie Warbler in the Butterfly Meadow about where we had it last week, several Ovenbird. there were two first-year male Indigo Buntings also in the Butterfly Meadow area.
The sad story was the Connecticut Warbler. Rob B and Janet Z went ahead of the group to the pool areas and found it briefly. When the whole group arrived it never showed.
About 4 hours later, after waiting for 4 hours..Rob J and Sean S found it again. Some of us were within striking distance but it had disappeared once again by the time we arrived.
I'm assuming in another 4 hours (about 6pm) it will resurface!
Anyway, here's the list.
Best regards,
Tom
