Subject: Easter waterthrushes
Hi, Peter, and happy Easter!
I had two waterthrush sightings in the park this morning, both in the area behind the pools; it's possible they were the same bird, but they were far enough apart that I don't think so. One was by the spur of the lower pool that comes close to the path. That bird had been working the side of the pool, then flew into the woods on the ravine side.
The second sighting was where the path curves around the Upper Pool, across from Falkill Falls. (It hopped around on the rocks by the falls some.)
The first sighting was with another birder (young guy with a beard, don't know his name) who was confident it was Louisiana. I'm not good at distinguishing, but I was assuming Louisiana, too, based on time of year.
Also saw a kingfisher flying up Ambergill Creek, lots of kinglets and flickers, 4 or 5 brown creepers, 4 sapsuckers, a pair of pine warblers by Terrace bridge, two separate palm warblers and a nice look at the ring necked ducks hanging out in the South Lullwater near the pink beach.
