Subject: Today's BBC Walk
Hi Peter,
The day was very beautiful and there were plenty of birds, although many were a bit frantic for long views. And it was a great group including participants from Colorado and California.
All tolled we had 69 species including 15 species of warblers. Some highlights were a flight of about 200 Brant flying over LeFrak followed, a few minutes later, by a Peregrine Falcon; for me a FOS Dark-eyed Junco, Spotted Sandpiper, Kingfisher, several Brown Creeper, many Kinglets of both types; Cape May, Nashville, Black-throated Blue and Green Warblers along with Indigo Bunting on Lookout. We did try to relocate Karen's Blue Grosbeak but without success.
We visited the grasslands over LeFrak and had close views of Yellow and Pine Warblers, some sparrows, and 3 fly-by European Goldfinch followed later by one very close bird feeding in thistle.
All in all a great trip. Here's the list with a couple of photos.
Best regards,
Tom
