There is only one reason for a bird cage to be in a remote woods of Prospect: it's a poaching trap.
With a glue stick attached, wild birds are lured in by the caged bird and get stuck to the glue stick.
A Birder found such a setup over the weekend
It's up to you to be the eyes against this illegal activity in violation of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
If you suspect a poaching trap, don't approach the trap as the often poacher is nearby.they can be violent.
Call the NYC URBAN PARK RANGERS as they come quick. The NYSDEC enforcement police also is another Force to call but slower to respond.
Or email the Brooklyn bird club or me if u have my text cell number.
