A good start for the first fall Thursday Brooklyn Bird Club walk as good warbler numbers occurred but it was a single observer's bird that drew the hi light.
Tom Stephensons group witnessed good numbers at the north end of Prospect with Redstarts a prime species. Later in the Peninsula, reports of NASHVILLE, PRAIRIE and CANADA appeared.Tom;s report will be posted later.
However it was Ed Crowne's bird that stole the day. At the wood chip trail above the Maryland monument , a male GOLDEN WINGED WARBLER put in a rare showing .Unfortunately no other observer lucked in . Janet Zinn reported a young BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER nearby as she searched for the Golden bird.
Filling out a rest of the day, Joshua Malbin reported OLIVE SIDED FLYCATCHER , perched in a snag above Center drive around 3 PM.
