With hope that today's weather would be the hope for weather for next week's Christmas Bird Count, a few nice species seen today would be terrific sightings for the upcoming count.
Topping the bird hi lights,a RUSTY BLACKBIRD was spotted by Linda Ewing in the phragmites marsh across from the Well Dr shipping containers.
Over at the West Island Sweetgum grove, Charles Tang report a few PINE SISKINS mixed in with other birds ravenously feeding upon the sweetgum seeds.
A mixed pair of HOODED MERGANSERs now occupy Prospect Lake. I saw them last in front of the Peninsula thumb.
There's an adult COOPERS HAWK patrolling the park, a beautiful photo taken also by Charles . The photo will be sent later.
The feeders are refilled but nothing to report in regards to a rarity.Give it time; I'm hoping or sure we'll get the bird of the year before winter ends. (I'm an optimist)
