I'm sorry to report that due to a compiling error on my part (leaving scoter sp. as "countable"), our revised grand total is 137 species, not 138. We still topped our old record by 3 species and lowered the bar just a bit for topping it again next year! To avoid future totaling discrepancies, I'm making coding changes in the database to disregard "sp" categories from the annual total by default.
Count week is now over. Species include: Bald Eagle (NS), Ring-necked Pheasant (MP), Wilson's Warbler (SC), Laughing Gull (RP)
Every sector achieved above-average species totals.
Spring Creek and Jamaica Bay tied for the highest species count with 76.
North Shore and Breezy set all-time species highs. Owls Head, Floyd, and Spring Creek matched their all-time highs.
With exponentially more visibility than last year, the Kayaking/BOAT crew more than doubled their 2019 total.
Attached are 3 post-count reports that summarize the count totals are break down results by sector. If there are any other data points you're curious about, let me know.
Terrific job everyone. I look forward to 2021!
Thanks,
-Mike
