Radka Osikova took a photo and sent to Kathy T. whom I happened to run into this afternoon and saw this photo.
A clearer photo sent to my phone makes me quite confident this is a drab Philadelphia Vireo which can be confused easily with Warbling Vireo.
The presence of a dark eye lore, dark blackish remiges and dark black spot at the wing wrist are good indicators. If it isnt a light aberration with the photo, the central breast appears yellow.the head crown looks darker than the back. I also detect the beak thicker with a top mandible down curve with a point.
The observation spot was by the mound at field #7 of the ballfields west end long meadow .I recognize the plant it's on as Gray Dogwood. Plenty of those there.
