The beauty of fall warblers

You can't imagine how beautiful warblers are until you see them close against a drab background. And I had that opportunity late this morning thanks to Ann Miller along Well Drive.

I happened to be working with my volunteers on the north side of three containers when during a break I spotted Ann and Tracy by the Picnic area. I originally went  to join them forgetting my binoculars and regret it as Ann pointed out both Orange crowned and Nashville warblers together on the ground level. So I went back to my work vehicle to get the bins.

Now armed with my bins, Ann pointed out both warblers but I set my sight first on the favorite one --Orange crowned. That I got after initial difficulty; but eventually if I stayed patient,I'll get the great look. And so it was as Orange crowned alighted on a single mugwort and just to its right was the Nashville.

Observing both birds mere inches apart and low,the colors just blew out and I had to say "Wow!" Nashville' s bright yellow versus orange crowned's more subtle tones makes me love warblers more. We're so lucky.
