Working is tough when you can't bird. But for a few moments I happen to be up at Butterfly Meadow, my spark bird the Scarlet Tanager saves my day.
I have heard there was some warbler activity up at butterfly meadow but my problem has been my timing lately. Either I'm five minutes late or I don't catch the bird someone points it out . I missed worm eating, blackburnian and magnolia when I arrived. Dan S tried to get my attention on a few of these birds with two other birders. But I can only sigh. But one of the birders Justin pointed out something just above him and I moved over to looked. Well I'll be : it's a male Scarlet Tanager! My springs I feel is never complete without seeing this spectacular bird.
"There is symbolic as well as actual beauty in the migration of the birds, the ebb and flow of the tides, the folded bud ready for spring." — Rachel Carson
"Everyone likes birds. What wild creature is more accessible to our eyes and ears, as close to us and everyone in the world, as universal as a bird?"
