First the Tanager. At about 1215 this afternoon, Rob Jett tweeted a report of a female /juvenile type WESTERN TANAGER in the Vale of Cashmere in the middle section of the pool. Apparently the bird was moving around the Kusa Dogwood and azalea shrub area. More details later when I see the NYS Birds Listerve.Its a tanager with prominent wing bars, usually the upper bar more yellowish. Theres a photo I heard taken of today's bird..

Rob Jett and I found a female Westen Tanager at the Vale of Cashmere in Prospect Park Brooklyn (Kings County) at about 12:15 pm today. Unfortunately the bird flew up into heavy cover and as of 1:45 we were unable to find the bird again.
A decent or very good migration this morning depending on who you asked after a weeks dismal activity, with a reported 20 species warblers today . Lookout Hill was the best spot according to Rob Jett and later the BBC walk . I haven't all the details but should soon get a report.
By noontime when I finally got out for luunch, the migration came to a standstill.Truth be told the early boids got the worm...
Canada Warbler were among the warblers reported, with several seen. Its sort of my spring nemesis bird , being more common than Wilson's I like to also see.. But that's the deal it is with these birds.
