Prospect bright PIWA;late 4/3 report

A dreary day but enlightened by the vibrant bright yellow PINE WARBLER male atop Terrace Bridge. By one of the planters  that was being tended to by my coworker whom I was speaking with, the personable PINE Warbler came flying in and landed in a nearby Mulberry Tree, where the warbler showed off his yellow. Bird has a positive cheery character most welcomed on a gloomy cold day . 

RED-NECKED GREBES continued as a tight flock near the strait of Three Sisters Islands. A perched BLACK CROWNED NIGHT HERON seen there.

Thought you'd be interested to know that I believe I saw your woodcock yesterday late afternoon/early evening - it burst out of the brush alongside Center Drive right by the Three Arches bridge. The golden-crowned kinglets were thick in the ravine. And just as I'd given up hope of spotting the Louisiana waterthrush and was heading toward the Long Meadow and home, I took one last look up Ambergill Creek (right by the wooden bridge) and there it was, happily bouncing around on the rocks. I watched it for quite a while and got great views.




This morning's highlight: a rufous-sided towhee scratching in the leaves by Binnen Pool.
