The first hilight --"literally on the screen"-- as I videotaped with my cell phone a PINE WARBLER climbing up and down, on the fence atop Terrace Bridge. See the video on my previous early morning post. Its a male bird with a zestful personality.A gorgeous bird.
The second hilight occurred on Rocky Pass ridge. My assigment in cleaning up the heavily trashed area up there almost had me stepping on an AMERICAN WOODCOCK. The bird stayed frozen hoping I wouldn't see it and it succeeded but i must have gotten way too close (less 2 feet ?) and it took off.It landed only about 50 feet away; however with the heavy oak leaf ground cover , I tried my best to to find it from that distance. No success. But the nervous bird took off again anyway and flew in front of me ( why ?) and down the hillside towards Three Arches Bridge. That was fun to see.
Three RED-NECKED GREBES are still on the lake. My List
