Hi Peter,
We didn't see the Redpoll during Raphael's walk. Luckily I hung around, he showed up a few hours later. By the way, I noticed that one of the Common Mergansers had a piece of fishing line wrapped around his right wing. I'm also attaching a close up pic showing the fishing line.

KB Note: the Common Merganser situation is aware of by the Prospect Park Natural Resources Department which made an unsuccessful rescue attempt Friday morning. This is a difficult species to capture for a wild bird that shies away from shorelines and people.This stressed bird can still fly.
Hence the critical importance that fisherman properly discard their fishing lines and hooks so that they dont wind up in birds.
