Citizen Science Opportunity: Point Counts in Brooklyn
Our colleagues at North Shore Audubon are seeking a winter Brooklyn birder to help with the ClimateWatch project it is coordinating, part of a National Audubon Society citizen-science initiative. A dedicated volunteer is needed between January 15 and February 15, 2019, to visit 12 specific sites (points) in Prospect Park and Greenwood Cemetery where they think nuthatches may be seen. At each point the volunteer must stand stationary for five consecutive minutes and record all birds heard and seen. Records from each of the 12 points, which must be at least 200 meters apart, is entered on eBird. The project coordinator will provide details and further information.
