Greenwood Cemetery rocks!

Greenwood Cemetery rocked today with a mega rarity followed by expected appearance of those timberdoodles.

A terrific find today happened in Greenwood with a single COMMON REDPOLL -showing extensive reddish tint.  Found by Shane Blodgett, the winter Boreal Finch fed among 125 American Goldfinches under sweetgums between Dell and Oakwood Avenues. A Google map snapshot appears below. Go to Greenwoods website for the map.

Then it was timberdoodles time. Gus Keri reported six AMERICAN WOODCOCKS in the cemetery. Two locations mentioned were the Spiral path and the other Pine and Central avenues. But these birds tend to pop up anywhere. Walk thru and you may find a flushed bird.

Meanwhile over at Prospect Lake, Ringnecked Ducks showed off their impressive numbers . A total of 24 birds had the lake their domain as reported by Gus as well.

Spring is making its transitions.
