I received the sad word that Paul passed away ,from complications of cancer .It was a day I was not looking forward to .
Paul was a major part of the Brooklyn Bird Club, serving as its president for many years mainly in the 1970s and again in the 1990s. His long service involved leading so many walks and trips especially Prospect Park and Greenwood Cemetery and his keen hearing and exceptional skills bought joy and delight to birders across the local spectrum.
He was also my friend for over four decades. Many times we shared the love of birding on trips all around the metro NYC area, the Christmas Bird Counts as well as coastal Kings Winter waterfowl counts bearing the challenges of weather elements.
He had a heart of gold, charitable in his time, his artwork and musical talent as well as an excellent naturalist of which he shared his love of nature with countless people stood out boldly.
A good man gone too soon,
Rest in peace Paul ♥️🌹🐦

"The crickets felt it was their duty to warn everybody that summertime cannot last for ever. Even on the most beautiful days in the whole year - the days when summer is changing into autumn - the crickets spread the rumour of sadness and change."
