This morning I joined a walk

This morning, uncertain if weather was a factor ( it wasn't thanks to false weather forecasting) , I stuck close to home. After all, Prospect is a grand place to bird and I wanted to catch up with warblers I've missed thus far.

I joined Dennis' walk from the Pergola, his usual BBC walk that today enticed over 50 birders. The number of people is quite impressive. Anyway, we started near Duck Island shelter where Yellow and Black poll warblers were spotted; Missed both ,blaming the glare and dense early foliage . But I did get a common yellow throat a little west along the shoreline .A Parula inches its way up a tree and I missed that one too ☹️.

But my misery was remedied by a blue gray gnatcatcher that flew down from its high perch to a tent caterpillar cocoon at eye level, the gnatty picking off tiny insects on the web. Last bird to report : a bright blue Indigo Bunting on the Hammerhead that took some time finding it in the elm tree, my fortune with help from birders to finally see it at the very top. So I was happy to see these birds and happy to see friends and acquaintances.

In other news I read for prospect and Greenwood were scant reports. In greenwood, the white crowned Sparrow continues at Dellwater and a Hooded Warbler fly catching by a termite hatch out at Sylvan water ridge. The long time resident Red Headed Woodpecker stays true to Battle hill on hemlock avenue..

Back to Prospect,  the Vale Cashmere remains good. The yellow breasted chat reappeared along with 2 yellow throated vireos. Lots of yellow there.A pinch of red with Scarlet Tanager which been frequent this week . On a another note though reported as an audio, Eastern Whippoorwill was heard there.

A last mention regards Orange crowned warbler, somewhere on the south slope of Breeze Hill south of Terrace Bridge, singing away but not for the food from Smorgasbord.
