Butterfly Meadow fall display

The sense of autumn seem more real today, the transition of species into more variety as I perceived it, with other birds not in the warbler class appearing today. And none other better place to enjoy the fall moments than at lush Butterfly meadow.

 There was action , in a mild sense for this conservative birder, and many birds look really cool in their fall plumage. Best for me as I drove up in my toro truck , stopping short and quickly as I made my turn ,a WHITE CROWNED SPARROW-- with its distinctive adult hairdo-- feeding on the path next to the fence. It stayed there  for a long time as I watched from my toro cab , the good sparrow feeding on smart weed and dried goldenrod seeds. Soon a SWAMP SPARROW joined in and eventually I had to move on . 

 The Butterfly meadow was quite active. In there and along the perimeter, some other nice birds appeared. BROWN THRASHER, several INDIGO BUNTINGS, BLUE HEADED VIREO,WINTER WREN ,BALTIMORE ORIOLE, and a couple of SCARLET TANAGERS passed thru under small overhead numbers  of FLICKERS, JAYS , and single YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER, HERMIT THRUSH, and flyover OSPREYs , two of them , one with a fishy catch.

 Sparrows are late , as it seems every year now, my hope they hit the road soon towards our way.
