The Long meadow was invaded by a track meet. 100's of kids are running with high energy, making the fields a non sparrow land. Nothing against kids getting exercise which we all want to see for healthier kids. The Upper Pool meadow was devoid of any birds,so was Breeze Hill dirt mounds.
And noise was deafening at the Peninsula meadow. There is a tree cutting/chipping operation by Parks Forestry right next to the Sora spot, the result of all the tree surveys and city's determination for public safety. ( we need that too). The negative on the Sora has been no news for three straight days. So assuming the bird is gone after a good run, the 7 day experience might be the 3rd longest in Prospect's history. Its possible the bird is still here but its an unknown right now.I'll keep checking the other marshes like I did tonight.
Speaking of marsh, the one opposite the LP 249 site had an elm quite active, mostly with 7 RUBY CROWNED KINGLETS. I say it was a slugfest with bugs and one BLACKPOLL WARBLER . Its a small elm at the edge of the phragmite marsh, with cobwebs of some sorton the sapling. The best bird though was a spectacular looking male BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER, with a larger than usual " handkerchief".
Hopefully it will be quieter tomorrow , the human created noise that is.
