Based on the previous reports posted below, it looks like a really decent day.I did not observe what should be numbers but given the cards, everyone out there including the BBC walk must have been satisfied.
Not wanting to go with into details of others observations,I will simply note what I observed after work. Enroute towards the Nethermead, Both single species kinglets appeared by the Upper Pool. The Wildflower meadow and the mugwort row beneath the Tennis House remain mostly quiet; if anything was in there, they remained skittish.
But at the northeast corner of the Nethermead, two dead or dying oak trees drew my attention. There was several species hanging out here ,dominated by EASTERN PHOEBE. However,I was delighted seeing two PINE WARBLERS accompanied by PALM WARBLER, RUBY CROWNED KINGLET & CHIPPING SPARROWs.
Fast forward to a mature shoreline ash tree covered with poison ivy at the south side of the Terrace Bridge. The ivy is a temporary home to 6 YELLOW RUMPED WARBLERS using the strung out vines as bouncy planks for insects. For a common bird in migration, its always great to see something dynamic, action by a species.
The lake by the way has ducks. A hen AMERICAN WIGEON, several NORTHERN SHOVELERS and four WOOD DUCKS I saw away over at Three Sisters Islands means winter isn't too far off.
