Subject: Thursday Walk

Hi Peter,

Well, last week was very quiet. This week....quieter...!!  At least until we got towards the south of the park and then things picked up a bit. It was raining a little at the start but turned out to be a very pleasant day.

We had 41 species including 10 species of warblers. And there were some good highlights.

Top picks: Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, Blackpoll Warbler; very cooperative, busy Hairy Woodpecker; House Sparrow with white wing patches (for a while we thought this might be the bird-of-the-day), Rose-breasted Grosbeak.
And
A very interesting hybrid warbler. It most closely resembled Sutton's, with several Northern Parula qualities, but also strong white supercilium and a dark bill.
It had very strong white wingbars, all white below except for yellow in the throat region only. Under-eye arc but strong white supercilum. It didn't have any of the black in cheek and throat of yellow-throated, however.....It was fairly high in an oak near the ganga gang on the south side. No chance for photos, unfortunately.

Hope someone else finds it!

Here's the list.

Best regards,
Tom
