BBC TRIPS Fwd: Spring Migration During COVID-19: Update

Hope is important because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear. If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear a hardship today.

Subject: Spring Migration During COVID-19: Update

Dear Members,

I hope you are your loved ones are well during these uncertain times.

I'm sad to announce we will be cancelling all BBC events for the month of April. For the time being we will keep May events on the schedule and make a decision later in the month based on how events develop.

As you get out and enjoy spring migration as best you can, I ask you to be thoughtful about reporting your sightings on social media. In the past weeks we have observed groups of birders gathering in response to reports of newly arrived migrants. Let's do our part and not take action that will encourage large groups to gather. I personally will cease reporting my observations in real time on social media platforms for the duration of social distancing. There will be another prothonotary warbler...but not another you.

We can't meet in person but that doesn't mean we can't keep learning together. Stay tuned for a webinar series where I will walk you through the method I use to learn bird song (Stevenson Method) and help you tune your ears for the arrival of Spring warblers.

Be well, stay safe and hope to be with you again soon.

Yours,

Dennis W. Hrehowsik
President
