Two different species hawks perched at the perimeter of Butterfly Meadow while we proceeded with our task clearing snow.
The first one, a juvenile likely female COOPERS HAWK stood out prominently by the Maryland Monument top steps. Then a short time later, we found the immature RED TAILED HAWK on the west slope, the bird seeing us and flying right over our work truck, to perch in the big Sweetgum Tree. At least we had some excitement this morning.
