Upper Pool Fishing issues

Both the Upper and Lower pool where the good birding is has become a magnet for fisherman trespassers. On weekdays, staff of the Natural Resources call Park Enforcement to the scene , But unfortunately on WEEKENDS, no staff is around to watch; ITS UP TO YOU TO HELP .

Image result for no fishing symbolWhenever you see fishermen in the restricted Upper Pool or Lower Pool, please call Park Enforcement (PEP). If trespassers jumped the fence, yes it's a summons. Don't approach , talk to or confront them as some of the fisherman are hostile. Call from a distance and let PEP deal with it. Fishing lines, habitat destruction and disturbance of a sanctuary for wildlife are major issues here.

here are the numbers for Park Enforcement

brooklyn 718 437-1350
and central dispatch 646-613 1350

call both if 718 isn't successful , all birders should be urged to call whenever they see fishermen inside the upper or lower pools

Also its a good idea to complain to 311 as calls are documented and sent to the park commissioners and park administrators for redress. Call 311 or submit an online entry with photographs as good evidence.
