The VATH returns; bridge park rarities

After a daylong absence, the VARIED THRUSH (VATH) finally was found. But Brooklyn bridge park has plenty of stuff to attract birders, particularly if you like evening birding.

The afternoon find of VATH in the Midwood southern area led back to its location. The mega bird flew back to the Binnen Pool and its Creek leading down from Nethermead '3 arches' Bridge.

Speaking of another bridge, Brooklyn Bridge Park is showing off three rarities, continuing this Park's treasure trove. The PAINTED BUNTING continues it's abode by pier 5, seen near the restrooms at the pier's northwest corner.

But shifting to Pier one,the pilings offered two rare gulls just before dusk. The first was an adult BLACK HEADED GULL. I'm not sure if it was perched or flying. But an ICELAND GULL did come in to roost on the pilings, located at Pier 1's western boundary. This happened last winter as well.
