Prospects 3rd record WHITE IBIS luckily spotted this morning flying over Prospect Lake is a really good one.
Anthony T spotted the fast flying bird eastbound maybe northerly abit, adding to Prospects amazing history for birds, making it a magnet for birders during migration.
You just have to have the time; the more time one puts in ,the increased likelihood for rewards.
Kudos to Anthony !

- Comments: "YEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS!!! An absolute dream bird of mine for NY state, and even more of a dream to see one at my beloved patch (after two failed attempts in Long Island and at Calvert Vaux). One of the very few birds I remember from childhood in Miami, where they would often wander in the driveway or backyard of my parents’ house. After a slow passerine day through the Midwood and Ravine, I posted up on the lake from peninsula around 7:45ish. Southwestern winds seemed optimal today, and I was immediately greeted by two flyover FOTE. However, things were pretty quiet until 8:18, when I noticed a white heron-like thing flying east over the lake, pretty high and fast. As with all fast-moving flyovers, I reached for my camera instead of bins, and the second my camera focused on the bird, I saw the black wingtips and freaked out. A beautiful adult White Ibis!! Surely an increasing visitor to the region."

"There is symbolic as well as actual beauty in the migration of the birds, the ebb and flow of the tides, the folded bud ready for spring." — Rachel Carson
