Yellow-bellied Flycatcher (Empidonax flaviventris) (1)
- Reported Aug 14, 2026 11:21 by Richard Fleming

- Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S383324303
- Media: 8 Photos
- Comments: "Sooty-chested empid with rich yellow ground color overlaid with almost gunmetal bluish streaking, prominent eyering widest at the rear, and yellow-tinged wingbars on dark, almost black wing panel. I got to spend a solid half an hour on and off with this bird, which was completely silent, and would only add to the photographic record that when sitting well-illuminated by sunshine the back was an almost lurid green, a yellow-green color that I think eliminates all other empids except perhaps Acadian, which has a larger bill and altogether less of the impression of being a "small" empid. No adjustments of any kind made to photographs. Seemingly part of an unusual early move of this species, with the heart of August not being a time I generally think of as a window for this largely boreal breeder. It's pure speculation, but this has been another bad season for Taiga forest-fires, and it's not hard to imagine that could be a factor here."
