Arriving 710,for the next 15 minutes I spotted two. Then I get a tweet from Chris Elliot who posted seeing 18! This sighting occurred at the southwest end of prospect lake. So figuring 18 is better than two,why not?
When I arrived near well drive picnic area,I saw one Nighthawk quite low a mere 65 feet above evening picnickers. It swooped over to the shoreline where it followed the bug trail over the lake surface.
I was informed shortly after that Chris' sighting of 18 NIGHTHAWKs was a high flying tight flock in cruise control,towards Parade grounds airspace,not the feeding frenzy type. So those guys are migrating out of here.
An enjoyable evening nevertheless.
