Hi Peter,
We got lucky today with our first Tuesday walk of the spring in Prospect Park. Birdcast showed almost 250k birds overnight, and I think it was one of the first nights with southwest winds so far this month. A few of the highlights were an Eastern Meadowlark spotted by Paul at the north end of the Nethermead, foraging among robins and off-leash dogs; two Vesper Sparrows together in the Sparrow Bowl; and the many hundreds of Chipping Sparrows on the Long Meadow and Nethermead. Sparrows arrived en masse; we also had eight Field Sparrows. Pine Warblers were everywhere in twos and threes.
We had 67 species in all, which is a great showing for mid-April: https://ebird.org/checklist/S225885908.
