latest on SORA, Common NIghthawks; BBC report

Both Mohammed Alomeri and Joshua Malbin reported the continuing presence of the SORA at the Peninsula marsh. See the previous post with my map .

Furthermore, when Mohammed , a former Urban Park Ranger and regular birder at Marine Park, mentioned seeing a high up COMMON NIGHTHAWK, Joshua sent word that he saw 14 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS over the Nethermead. Late birds on the move.

ON my way home , a side trip  to check for the SORA, no luck then, I spotted my first fall LINCOLN SPARROW behind the fence in the open area by Lamppost #249 picnic tables. Handsome bird is a favorite of many birders.

Rob Bate's Tuesday walk was quite productive. Bobbi sent the list. Most notable was...Oh ...of course...The SORA !

One last note. During my inspections, over 45 COMMON GRACKLES feeding in the east Midwood, among leaf clutter

Note from Mohammed :

Hi Peter,
Thanks for your help today. I was able to spot the Sora Rail at the location you specified. I waited for less than 10 minutes when this beautiful bird casually walked towards me. I loved the beautiful pattern of black stripes and white spots on is body. I especially loved seeing its very long toes.

Joshua's report

finally got away from work to see the Sora. bonus of nighthawk show over nethermead and a Merlin perched over ball fields. not bad for less than an hour.
