The afternoon social circle on Prospect Lake of three ducks caught my attention. With all the lake space,these three species decided to hang together.
I took a route that put me too far on the west shore to identify the birds; so to the peninsula I go. A closer look and I could see a lone Drake RINGNECKED DUCK with one hen BUFFLEHEAD and two hen HOODED MERGANSERS.
Surrounding the group,RUDDY DUCKS and NORTHERN SHOVELERS stayed close.
