Long time coming ,C Gallinulle

Prospect Park's first COMMON GALLINULE  in 17 years is today's hilight.

A juvenile COMMON GALLINULE was found by Joshua Malbin this afternoon working the shore of Music Island. The island wasn't even around the last time a Gallinule was seen , a bird i remembered well from October of 2000. Today's young bird was seen in and out of the island's rocks and dense shoreline habitat. At times it comes out in the open between Music Island and the Peninsula. Either stand at the Lefrak Rink shore or Peninsula tip eastern shore for best vantages.

A good find by Joshua. ( See his tweet prior this post for the photo. )   https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DOnNepuW0AAhIUu.jpg
