Hi Peter,
The park was misty and rainy this morning -- we had to take shelter under some trees around the Butterfly Meadow for about 30 minutes -- but our small group had an excellent day given the conditions. When we took our customary coffee break at the Picnic House, a little after 10, we happened upon the Prothonotary Warbler that another birder (Seth, I believe) had just found. The bird sang frequently and gave good looks in a big white oak and European beech. The wooded area between the drive and the picnic tables also had a Bay-breasted Warbler. Soon after, Paul in our group spotted a low flyover of five Glossy Ibis over the Long Meadow. Those were the major highlights, and felt like a great reward for sticking out the rain earlier in the morning.
Here is our list from the day: https://ebird.org/checklist/S233876588. We observed 61 species.
