- Comments: "Large rufous goatsucker-first flushed when I was walking along on top of west slope above bike path-I was walking south when bird flushed and flew ahead of me- my first impression was the color and I thought BRTH then my mind went to AMKE/MERL because it was shaped like a falcon then I went WTF is this-it U-turned and came back past me and I thought Nitehawk for a moment before realizing it was a different goatsucker-it disappeared into a tree- when I walked closer I could see it perched on a vertical branch-it was in the shade and was raining at that point so wasdark but could still see the overall Rufus tones of the bird-Also appeared large overall and big -headed- in flight the back and the tail seems concolorous to me and I definitely did not notice any white tips on the tail like a whippoorwill- Flight seemed more powerful and direct then I remember the WHIP exhibiting at Coney Island Creek Park a couple of years ago but different time of day in different circumstances so hard to judge"
