Prospect Oct 18th: Clay-colored sparrow , Kinglets not Kingbird today

(My apologies for not tweeting or alerting my bird groupies due to my forgetting my cell phone this morning)

During my lunch hour, behind Field 6's home plate, in the fence below the 6 sign, a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was seen, noted by its buffish breast and absence of eye lores. The bird was hanging with a CHIPPING SPARROW flock including 2 WHITE-CROWNEDS actively moving in that area , venturing over towards field 7 as well.

More details later, as my lunch hour is over........

Evening post:

With WEKI being a "One day wonder", the same term could be applied for the sparrow and hermit thrush numbers of yesterday, numbers dropping dramatically today. So many Hermit Thrushes yesterday, "where they go ?"  today.  Kinglet numbers went up , especially after work, where along the Upper Pool fence, several RUBY-CROWNEDs with a few GOLDEN CROWNEDs were near ground level, in the fences, and a few times I saw them chasing each other. Adam reported a good number of kinglets today in his report.

The Lake isn't in play yet despite a lone AMERICAN WIGEON drake and still small numbers of RUDDY DUCKS and NORTHERN SHOVELERS along with only 2 PIED-BILLED GREBES and AMERICAN COOTS.

A late report from Adam reports the season's first FOX SPARROW.
