Fwd: eBird Report - Prospect Park--Prospect Lake, Feb 27, 2018

Three Sisters is today's hotspot, as a variety of waterfowl sought its cozy shelter.

The numbers belong to the WOOD DUCK, as I spotted 9 birds  by the water snag on the western most island, with 6 wading close by. Later in mid day I saw only two Woods on the tree snags. But with hard to see nooks and crannies, it could be more Woods.

A pair of RINGNECKED DUCKS came into view around 2 pm by the eastern 3 Sisters, a mixed pair that was a cool thing to see. One hen BUFFLEHEAD hung close to them.

Farther away, the continuing RED BREASTED MERGANSERS could be seen;like the Ringnecks, they are also a mixed pair. Also continuing is the HORNED GREBE, one of the longest stays for this uncommon rare species for Prospect Lake.
