A no doubt slower day of birding due to the hot temperature with cool spots being the places to go to for a few good birds seen today.
HOODED WARBLER provided the sight as two different birds were reported. A singing male was heard at early morn from the Terrace Bridge southwest slope before going deeper into the Peninsula.There it hung around the pink concrete beach all morning before it flew by noon to the Maryland Monument north slope. A female Hooded surfaced at the back slope of the Upper Pool around the path bend from the Falkill Falls.
The Peninsula also provided good observation of a PROTHONOTARY WARBLER .This bird --whether its the one from the past week, hung near the tip , spotted by Ed Crowne's Thursday BBC walk group.
WORM EATING WARBLER continues to delight birders by the Ravine Rock Arch bridge, moving along the downstream then back again towards the Ambergill .
The Ambergill Falls is respite for hot birds, when I was there AMERICAN REDSTART, BLACK THROATED BLUE warblers.
But despite the hot weather, Ed Crowne pulled through reliably with 18 species of warblers today for his BBC walk. Among them : CAPE MAY WARBLER, and the aforementioned warblers above.
