Reported on the Peninsula, at the tip 215 pm. It was seen earlier in the morning with no specific location then.

530 update. Prothonotary Warbler now social distancing on Duck Island seen from rustic shelter, peninsula.

A Prairie Warbler reported late morning at the Wellhouse Drive green containers

Park enforcement numbers

seems like stories I have been hearing and reading out of Prospect Park points to a Wild Wild West sideshow: fisherman jumping fences into the protected Upper and Lower Pools, many dogs off leash in woodlands and grasslands ,hostile confrontations with rogue dog owners, vandalism fence breaks,  so   on so on  and so on..
(almost like an anarchy in progress)
My suggestion is never confront miscreants.just call and pester Park Enforcement Patrol even with their spotty enforcement..you never going to win as a private citizen with those who easily and arrogantly ignore you and you risk harm to yourself and jeopardize your well being with hostile folks.
(who the heck needs the unnecessary stress?)

I started a little later than normal hoping to avoid all the off-leash dogs running wild in the park. It's arguable whether I succeeded in that.

But there were clearly a number of birds that arrived overnight. I sensed it could be a good morning when a towhee woke me up at 6:30 singing in my courtyard -- a mile and a half away from the park.

Checking the Ebird checklists
Green-Wood cemetery recorded
Wilson's Snipe, Louisiana Waterthrush ,Field Sparrow and an uptick of 19 Palm Warblers. No report of Yellow throated warbler.

Prospect sees typical migrating species with notables of Louisiana waterthrush,yellow crowned night heron,brown thrasher, laughing gull,blue headed vireo ,osprey and so on .. check the list link.

Staying lighthearted while quarantined...

I was supposed to be in Arizona birdwatching this weekend with friends but alas I'm  home in Brooklyn. Since we were flying there, why not be lighthearted about it ? Here's a nice joke

Vultures

As migration approached, two elderly vultures doubted they could make the trip south, so they decided to go by airplane. When they checked their baggage, the attendant noticed that they were carrying two dead raccoons.

"Do you wish to check the raccoons through as luggage?" she asked.

"No, thanks," replied the vultures. "They're carrion."

The National Park service is strongly considering closing the wildlife refuge and locking up the parking lot as there are a number of folks who continue to violate the rules of the park such as bike riding on the trails

bringing dogs down on the trails and walking off trail

we hope doesn’t come to this and in effort to try to keep it open we are trying to get the word out as some folks are not aware of the rules but if you were going to the park please try to ensure that you stay on the trail you follow social distancing rules you do not bring your dog and you do not ride your bike down there

hopefully people could help us get the word out on this issue as it has been a great asset during this quarantine.
