My oldest birding friend along with Paul Keim on the same day at decrepit Upper Pool where all three of us " strangers" then watched a Sora Rail roughly 45 years ago. We affectionately called our meeting " the sora connection" 🤗
So many memories and stories be it in prospect park, on birding trips or butterflies galore, and especially on overnight club weekends , Jerry Layton was one of a kind, always respectful and generous with his knowledge of the natural world.
He had been ill for a long time,suffered much and therefore is now at peace.
