Prospect park waterways invite the observer to seek out the good birds mingling among the common ducks. And so I was able to find two drake Ring necked ducks by three sister islands with a nearby hen bufflehead hiding within a ruddy duck flock. Gadwalls- three total were found in the lake middle,assuming they're not the same at lull water cove.
Within three sisters I observed 5 wood ducks. It was this species that highlighted the day. Because at Lull water cove there was a total of 32! The day total became 37 woodies,a high enough number to get flagged on my ebird report. Such a spectacular sighting at the cove.
Yep ill be looking forward to the ducks of winter. 🐢
