An hour of nice birding after work, with Rusty Blackbird ,belted kingfisher and yellow bellied sapsucker seen from the southeast corner of Upper pool followed by a sparrow flock at the new South Nethermead fence line highlighted by two field sparrows with savannah among the 15+ chippies. Not a bad hour at all!
And from Humming-Bird to Eagle, the daily existence of every bird is a remote and bewitching mystery.
~Thomas Wentworth Higginson, "The Life of Birds," Out-door Papers, 1868
