This first day of March is "springing" up as stirrings of migration takes place.
First , Matthew Wills reports the continuing HORNED GREBE seen in the Lullwater between the Lullwater and Terrace Bridges.Later, it was reported by the Boathouse docks. Secondly , Rafael Campos on a secondhand report informed me in the field (as I was refilling the feeders) of two unidentified birders seeing an AMERICAN WOODCOCK on the slope of north Vale of Cashmere, I presume along the stairs to the Rose Garden this morning.
From Keir's report, note KILLDEER, COMMON MERGANSER, AMERICAN TREE SPARROW , even WINTER WREN as among those migrants passing through.Spring is not far off. ( so says the groundhog ?)
