- Comments: "Surely the most exciting moment of the morning - an empid I’d hoped but not expected to find in the garden this fall! Seen for no more than 3-4 minutes flycatching shyly in the darkest back corner of the native flora garden, just near the mouth of the artificial stream. I quickly lost it after it crossed the fence. While it did not vocalize I feel confident in this ID, having a few run-ins with these little guys in prior years. My immediate first impression was that this empid was more compact than the multiple traill’s flycatchers I’ve seen in the past week, and exhibited a much stronger preference for deep shade. The eye ring also stuck out as clear and complete, and the wing bars very prominent. When it turned to face me I immediately noticed a bright yellowy-green color from the throat down to the belly. I tried to see this as a LEFL but just could not buy the degree of yellow and green I was seeing."

I was there picking through warblers feeding up in the mulberry when I noticed it pop out just downhill from me, at which point it just kinda … perched there, unusually cooperatively for a chat on migration. Indeed it was there for long enough that I was able to just use my iPhone to take a little video of my new friend, which I will now share for your edification and enjoyment. Larger than a warbler, with bright yellow breast, neatly demarcated white belly beginning halfway down, olive back, heavy bill (really more like an oriole, to which they’re more closely related), big white spectacles."

Leseer yellowlegs lullwater
A very uncommon species LESSER YELLOWLEGS appeared in the Lullwater by music and teacup islands. When i heard about while I was on the peninsula, I went to look. There along with spotted sandpiper, the yellow legs was walking on the marsh marigold aquatic plant surface.. a nice sight to see.

The Hammerhead is located at the southwest corner of Prospect PARK lake.between west and three sisters islands.
