Prospect silent except for waders

It must be a lunar explanation for the quiet in Prospect of late. With sparrows still not showing their presence, it was slim pickings this afternoon . Except for a new lake FoS wader, and fall colors showing up in patches, pretty much birds are not around.

A late day venture up to Butterfly Meadow revealed only the duo of BLUE JAYS and YS FLICKERS. No sparrows to report except for a lone WHITE THROATED.

Its also a transition to water birds as October brings them in. Besides small numbered  RUDDY DUCKS and NORTHERN SHOVELERS, two AMERICAN COOTS are out there with the waders in Prospect Lake, maybe the first appearance for this species this fall.

Has Prospect been moonstruck void of birds ?
