A quartet of birders including leader Tom Stephenson were
successful this early August day sparked by a previous evening northwest wind.
As far as I know at least 10 species warblers showed up with some flycatcher
species to record as well.
Highlights
including warblers BLUE-WINGED,
CAPE MAY & CHESTNUT-SIDED. Those
birds were joined by the BBC walk list of YELLOW-BELLIED and possibly WILLOW Empidonaxes Flycatchers. The Yellow
bellied was at the slope between the Butterfly Meadow and Lookout Hill summit,
in the elm grove. Nearby by the hydrant was the Blue Winged and Cape May seen
in the Peninsula along the lullwater trail midway to the point.
Also on Lookout Hill
summit, a WHITE-EYED VIREO appeared.
A good day for the
Brooklyn Bird Club first fall walk.
Tom Stephenson
will send his report /list later.
